Early 1950 East German 50 Pfennig, issued just after the creation of the German Democratic Republic.

One side shows a factory and plough cart, representing industry and agriculture, while the other reads DEUTSCHLAND 50 PFENNIG 1950 A. Unlike later DDR coins, this early design predates the familiar hammer-and-compass state emblem. Numista records a large 1950 mintage of about 67.7 million coins.
