THE PROLOGUE. THE AUTHOR OF THE "WORD"

In the central part of the triptych there is a story-

teller, a poet, the creator of the "Words about Igor's Campaign". We do not know for certain whether he was a Chernigov, Kievan or Galician, whether he himself was a prince or a tutor of princes, a chronicler or a warrior, or

both.

But his wise thoughts and passionate feelings have

reached us, expressed in fiery words, in the language spoken by our Russian ancestors. Even today we

feel the warmth of his warm heart, his strong, masculine

and at the same time melodious singing a message to his contemporaries and descendants. He lived many centuries ago.

A true patriot of the Russian land, he felt his involvement in everything that was happening on earth, suffered and supported the interests of his homeland.

The color of the singer's clothes, the weapons of the

singer - the harps, which he used constantly, and the weapons of the warrior, the artist emphasizes that the singer fights darkness and gives light to people.

Here it is, darkness, hanging over the Russian land: internecine princely wars and raids of the Polovtsians, nomads neighboring Russia. The side parts of the tripquiet

help to understand deep thoughts, passionate the feelings of the singer. Old Vladimir, who cared about

the unity, power of Russia, military knowledge, weapons, symbols of military honor is the past of Russia... The Russian land is in the glow of strife and enemy raids:

Princes Igor and Vsevolod lead their vigilantes, "black

people", to defend their native land. They have already

gone beyond its borders, and nature has engulfed both the steppe and the island of brave Russians with anxiety: dark blue clouds with orange flashes portend bloody sich…

Next to the main theme - the theme of the mother-

land, others are conceived in the painting: the purpose

of the artist and his art, the theme of the people and

their leader, the theme of war and peace, peaceful labor

and destructive forces, etc. This thematic versatility is

solved both by the images of the characters, a rich color palette, and individual details: the columns separating the parts of the triptych are decorated with geometric ornaments, drawings of animals and birds. Each pattern carries a deep artistic and semantic load, symbolizes the struggle of good and evil, the level of public consciousness of the people of that time.
