Original 60 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945 Jubilee Medal, instituted to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany.

These examples are in excellent condition — beautifully bright, almost mirror-like, with virtually no visible signs of age or wear.

The medal was awarded in 2005 to surviving veterans and other eligible participants of the Second World War, including servicemen of the Soviet Armed Forces, partisans and underground resistance members, home-front workers, former under-age prisoners of Nazi concentration camps and ghettos, and recipients of various wartime Soviet decorations.

Although closely associated with Russia, versions of the jubilee medal were presented throughout a number of former Soviet republics, including Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Armenia and Uzbekistan, reflecting their shared history within the USSR during the war.

The Russian Federation ceased awarding the medal as a Russian state decoration following changes to its state awards system in 2010.

A beautiful and increasingly historical piece from the final generations of Soviet WWII veterans — 60 years after the victory they had fought for.
